This is like an instant idli,, looks great and tastes delicious.

They are high in carbohydrates and therefore calorie-dense, but there is virtually no trace of fat in them, and when they are produced, they are very low in salt. They do not contain cholesterol, and in moderation, vermicelli can be an excellent option as part of a healthy, balanced diet.

According to food historians, references in the Sangam literature mentions semiya around 1st century AD. Lokopakara (1025 CE) a cookbook in Kannada also mentions method of making sevai(Semiya, Vermicelli) and a mold-presser used for it.
